Lincolnshire is famous for it’s “big skies” and brooding fenland countryside, but Lincolnshire has so much to offer in addition to skies and fens. The purpose of this website and Lincs Skies social media pages is to celebrate and share the big skies and all the different landscapes of Lincolnshire and surrounding counties through displaying Lincolnshire photos, other images and information about the county.
In 2016, due to popular demand, a photo competition for Lincolnshire photos was set up. Lincs Skies followers were invited to enter photographs taken in Lincolnshire and the most “liked” (in terms of social media “likes”) were entered into a final selection. From these finalists, 12 winning photos were chosen by a judging panel.
These 12 photos made up the popular Lincs Skies Calendar. Nearly 700 calendars were sold online and in retail outlets across Lincolnshire, completely selling out.
Due to the very generous sponsorship by Elsoms Seeds Ltd and other local businesses, the calendar raised £4747.00 for the very deserving Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.
Now, in August 2017, I’m delighted to announce that, thanks to continued Elsoms sponsorship of the calendar, we have again run the Lincs Skies Photo Competition and the 2018 Calendar will be available shortly. All photos in the calendar will be taken in Lincolnshire of the skies and local landscapes. The entries are being judged by a judging panel and the winning entries will represent a month on the calendars. Every winner will also receive a free calendar.
This website is dedicated to the beautiful landscapes and “big skies” of Lincolnshire and the surrounding Fenland counties, seen through the eyes of the professional and amateur photographers that live here.
